Food for Thought

In the traditional healing sense, Ayurvedic medicine is more widely accepted as a method for healthcare. It allows the body’s natural healing responses to take hold and heal the ‘rogi’ (patient). Lifestyle, daily routines, herbs, mindfulness and mantras are just small parts of the healing system. An Ayurvedic Practitioner can help the patient ascertain what the body needs to do in order to purge out the toxins causing the symptoms and reaching homeostasis. Remember, toxins aren’t solely physical, they can be emotional, mental and even psychic. This is why the Ayurvedic approach aims to target all body systems. It is believed we actually have 5 Koshas, or bodies in Yogic philosophy, so each prognosis is different for different patients. Some require prayer pr positive thinking, others need a more sturdy routine, others need more aggressive purgative routines and cleansing. Whatever the route the practitioner takes, you can bet that it is unique, just like the patient.
